Wineglass Bay – Tasmania

Wineglass Bay

+ overview

Wineglass Bay is one of Tasmania’s most sought after natural feature. Remoteness and pristine wilderness characterize the beauty of the crescent-shaped beach. Wineglass Bay is located on the Freycinet Peninsula, half way down the coast of Tasmania. Nestled in the Freycinet National Park, Wineglass Bay enjoys a stunning backdrop where pink granite mountains and lush forests contrast with white sand and azure waters.

+ see & do

There are two options to take in the perfect views of Wineglass Bay.  One is from the top of Mt Amos, a very strenuous 1.5 hour walk (one way) straight up hill across and around boulders. This is a rewarding one, as you sit and enjoy the spectacular view. The other is from considerably lower, about 3/4 hour walk from the car park at Coles Bay.

Wineglass Bay, Coles Bay and Francynet National Park provide endless opportunities for nature related activities: fishing, bush walking, mountain Biking, sea kayaking, rock climbing, nature and wildlife viewing (including Tasmanian Devils), windsurfing, sailing, cruising, snorkeling/scuba diving…

+ get there

Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue operate flights from Australian major cities to Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. Freycinet National Park is a 2 hour drive from both cities.
