The much photographed Rondinara Bay is the picture perfect Corsican beach. Wild and unspoilt, the crescent shaped bay boasts soft white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters fringed by granite red rocks and pine-trees.
+ overview
A protected nature reserve, Rondinara Bay boasts an exceptional natural beauty. Fringed by pine-trees and granite red rocks, the crescent shaped beach forms an almost perfect half circle, its two ends opening narrowly on the Mediterranean sea. Stretching for nearly 1km (0.6mi), the beach is a wide expanse of fine white sand. The dazzling turquoise sea is shallow with clean, crystal clear water. An unspoilt natural harbor, Rondinara Bay is popular among boaters, who come to enjoy the serenity and stunning scenery of the place. Aerial shots of Rondinara Bay’s alluring, perfectly shaped crescent are often featured on postcards and advertisements of Corsica. Rondinara is probably the most photographed beach of all the island. However it is still far as busy as other Corsican beaches, especially the nearby Palombaggia Beach and Santa Guilia Beach near Porto-Vecchio. If it is authenticity and wilderness you are after while travelling in Corsica, then you should definitely consider a visit to Rondinara Bay. The pristine beauty of the beach will delight especially nature lovers. Cows often visit Rondinara Beach and wend their way through visitors, a quite unusual sight for outsiders.
see & do »
Rondinara Bay is a perfect place to relax away from the crowds. Although the beach completely lacks of facilities, there is little chance to get bored of such a haven of peace and tranquility. The setting of the bay provides a protected and safe environment for swimming and snorkeling. The sea is calm, shallow and gently sloping, which makes Rondinara Beach ideal for families with children. The beach offers good snorkeling opportunities, although some people might be annoyed by sea grass and the presence of boats in the bay. Windsurfing is also popular in Rondinara Bay.
For those who wish to explore the surroundings, there are some walking trails leading inland in the mountains behind or along the coastline to delightful tiny coves. There is another, smaller and much less visited beach immediately to the south of Rondinara’s main beach. This strip of sand can be accessed via a path through the scrub (maquis), either from the car park or the southern (right) end of the main beach. While the sand is as white as on Rondinara Beach, the sea is not as beautiful and not quite as calm.
